We are a friendly, relaxed British-American family looking for an au pair for our 6-year-old daughter, starting Monday 19 April. We’ve had three au pairs previously (the most recent one is leaving to go to school in Finland) and our daughter has loved them. You’ll be picking her up from school (a 5 minutes’ walk away) and looking after her until we get back from work. She is fun, well-behaved and articulate, and loves painting, drawing, dancing, reading and playing with her hamster and two gerbils. She has a 11-year-old stepbrother who stays with us every other weekend, but you won’t be looking after him.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Picking her up from school Monday – Friday at 3:15 (sometimes pickup is later because of school clubs she attends or playdates)
· Play and look after her until 7pm, helping with homework, giving her dinner, a bath and getting her ready for bed
· Helping out and taking her to school two mornings a week from 7:30 to 8am
· Babysitting two evenings a week, usually during the week, or on weekends by prior arrangement
· Do her laundry and put away her clothes, and help her keep her room tidy
· Keep the kitchen tidy after her meals and generally keep the living spaces neat at the end of the day after play (we have a cleaner who comes once week to do the regular cleaning)
· Provide all-day care during school holidays, with extra pay
We are looking for a non-smoker with good English, childcare experience and references, who is reliable and really likes kids.

The position comes with:
· A quiet double bedroom overlooking the garden
· TV with Freeview (extra channels) and DVD player
· Wifi
· Adjacent bathroom mainly for your use
· All food and bills included
· Weekends typically free unless we have agree on babysitting

We live in a house near shopping, bars and restaurants, 5 minutes’ walk from Balham station with Tube and train links. We’re 10 minutes’ walk from both Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common and the lively scene in Clapham. If you’re interested there is also the possibility of extra babysitting with other families nearby.

For approximately 20 hours a week plus 2 nights babysitting, we pay £85 plus room and board.
