Live-In Au Pair in Acton, West London Location: Acton
We are a friendly family with two really lovely and pretty easy going boys (ages 8 and 6) living in Acton, West London (near to language schools and colleges and about 20 minutes by tube from central London). We are looking for a live-in aupair to start asap to help with general day to day childcare (often as sole charge) and light housekeeping. Over the past eight years we have only had three au pairs – each of which has stayed with us for a substantial amount of time. All three have been very caring, active and outgoing with flexible and mature attitudes and have clearly loved spending time with children. We are looking for someone of a similar disposition. We are open to male applicants and we are looking for a minimum commitment of 9 months.
Good English is absolutely essential – please do not apply unless you can speak to a high standard or have English as a first language as it would be a shame to waste time. Similarly please do not apply unless you are available for a face to face interview in the near future and can supply good references that we can check.
We are both freelancers who do not work in permanent jobs but are often both working full time so you need to be happy to be in a sole charge position but flexible enough to be OK when one of us is around too!
You would be responsible for:
During term time (approx 30hrs):
7-9am Giving the boys breakfast, making packed lunches and getting them to school (2 minutes walk away)
3.15-8pm - P/up from school, cooking supper (simple meals but freshly prepared – you do not need to be an amazing cook but you do need to have basic knowledge around the kitchen), overseeing bath time, helping with homework, helping with reading every night, taking to/from local health club for swimming lessons and tennis lessons (once a week each), being prepared to sometimes have their friends over too, going to the park, playing football/outdoor games, bike riding etc
During the holidays, and only if we are both working full time, you would be sole charge for most of the day and we would want you to show initiative in keeping the children occupied.
Other duties would include the childrens’ laundry, general ironing and cleaning, keeping the house generally tidy on a daily basis and being prepared to babysit once or twice a week (although this is quite often not at all!). On the whole we would not need you during the day at weekends, but on the odd occasion that we did you would be paid extra if you had already worked 5 days that week. Otherwise, you would have a good amount of free time.
You will have your own room with TV, DVD and stereo and share a bathroom with the children. You would have free internet access.
Weekly pay minimum of £100 per week.
